
A 24-year-old man jumped from an overpass on a Utah highway and landed on a moving semi truck below, according to the West Valley City police department.
Police were initially called to the scene after witnesses saw a “suspicious man” climbing up the side of an overpass on SR 201 in West Valley City, Utah.
After arriving at the scene, officers attempted to talk the man down. The man refused to comply with their orders and jumped off the overpass, landing on the trailer of a moving semi truck below.
Officers pulled the truck over and climbed on top in order to detain the man. According to KUTV, the truck driver was not aware that there was someone on his truck.

The man was later identified as 24-year-old Travis Wharton. WVC Police say he was under the influence of drugs. He was arrested for outstanding warrants.

Wharton was taken to a local hospital to be checked for injuries before being sent to the Salk Lake County jail. He was charged with public intoxication.
There was no damage to the semi truck, however the incident caused significant traffic delays.
