Police in Port Huron Township, Michigan, shut down a section of Interstate 94 on Wednesday due to a suicide-by-truck fatality.

The incident happened around 5:45 a.m. on westbound Interstate 94 at Interstate 69.

The St. Clair County Sheriff’s Office reported that a man jumped off the overpass at Michigan Road, into the path of a semi truck on the highway below. He was instantly killed after being struck.

The truck driver was not injured.

As a result, the westbound lanes of Interstate 94 are closed at Interstate 69. All westbound traffic is being detoured onto westbound I-69.

An investigation is underway.

Update: The road has reopened.
