
Eastbound Interstate 94 in Van Buren County, Michigan is closed between Exit 56 and Exit 60 due to a two separate multi-vehicle crashes that occurred on Friday afternoon.
WOODTV.com has reported that 17 cars and 10 semi trucks were involved; with four injuries being reported.
Michigan State Police issued the following statement on the incident:
“At the 59 mile marker (EB) we have we have experienced numerous crashes and are requesting motorists to avoid I-94 east bound from the Hartford Exit to the Mattawan Exit. At this time the East bound lane is shut down and is being rerouted from Decatur Exit to the Paw Paw Exit. Additional information will be provided as time permits.”
Eastbound traffic is being diverted at Exit 56, onto Red Arrow highway.
The Westbound lanes were closed earlier in the day due to separate accidents, but have since reopened.
As of 3:05 p.m., the eastbound lanes on Interstate 94 remain closed.
