The Ohio Department of Transportation has announced that one lane on an Interstate 75 ramp will be closed for weeks after a tractor trailer accident damaged the roadway.

The accident happened on Wednesday afternoon on the I-75 northbound ramp to I-70 westbound in Dayton, Ohio.

Originally, ODOT estimated that ramp would face complete closure for an extended period of time, but the agency decided to reopen the left lane after engineers deemed it structurally stable. The right lane will remain closed until October 20th for repairs.

According to WDTN-2, the truck was hauling coiled steel and overturned while taking the ramp, causing the load to spill onto the road. The impact from the steel ripped open the roadway.

The truck driver suffered minor injuries, but refused treatment and did not require hospitalization.

The closed lane is expected to create some traffic congestion, however it’s much better than the original announcement of a complete closure of the ramp.
