Interstate 45 in Navarro County, Texas, was shut down on Tuesday morning due to a standoff between police and an armed robbery suspect.

According to a report from FOX-4, the suspect committed a robbery in Limestone County, then robbed a Shell gas station in Freestone County at gun point, before taking police on a chase down Interstate 45.

The suspect’s vehicle became disabled at Mile Marker 224 on Interstate 45, just south of Corsicana, around 10:05 a.m. He then exited his vehicle and fired several shots at officers.

The standoff shut down the highway in both directions.

A Facebook user that was stuck on the highway sent us this footage of the scene.

SWAT officers approached the suspect using an armored vehicle and were able to arrest him shortly after 11 a.m. He is currently in police custody.

The highway has since reopened.
