Black ice and slick roads were listed as factors in several serious tractor trailer accidents in Oregon on Saturday, resulting in multiple fatalities.
Highway 20
Two truck drivers were killed in a head-on collision around 9 a.m. on Highway 20 at milepost 216 in Malheur County.
According to the Oregon State Police, an eastbound tractor trailer veered into the westbound lanes and struck another tractor trailer head-on. Both trucks caught fire, and both drivers were killed in the crash.
Two passenger vehicles were unable to stop after the head-on crash and drove into the back of the westbound truck. Neither motorist was injured.
400 gallons of diesel fuel spilled onto the roadway as a result of the wreck.
The accident closed a 20-mile stretch of Highway 20 for several hours, however it has since reopened.
The identities of the truck drivers have been withheld until family members are notified.

Another wreck shut down Eastbound I-84 on Saturday morning, involving multiple passenger vehicles and tractor trailers at milepost 351 near Baker City.
Multiple injuries were reported in the wreck, however information on the extent of the injuries or any possible fatalities have not been released. The Oregon Department of Transportation has listed black ice and slick road conditions as a factor in the crash.
