A section of Interstate 85 in Dinwiddie County, Virginia was closed this morning after an accident involving a semi truck, a fire truck, and a police vehicle.

According to WTVR, the right lane of I-85 was blocked off by a fire truck and a police car around mile marker 43 when the crash occurred.

Police say the semi truck failed to slow down as it approached the blocked-off lane, and crashed into the fire truck around 1:30 a.m. The impact knocked the fire truck into the sheriff’s deputy car, which caused the fire truck to split in half.

The 2013 Volvo semi truck then took out approximately 200 feet of guardrail before overturning.

The driver of the semi truck was airlifted to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries. The sheriff’s deputy and a fireman were also taken to the hospital with minor injuries. The truck driver is expected to be charged, however the specific charges have not been named.

A stretch of I-85 near the accident was closed off for several hours, but has since reopened.
