Yesterday, on Wendesday, October 11th, President Donald Trump promoted his tax plan in front of the American Trucking Association (ATA). He used the opportunity to try to convince the public that his proposed tax cuts would benefit middle class Americans — like the hard working truck drivers of America.
Many truckers, however, responded with criticism. Not because tax cuts aren’t a good thing, but because there’s a larger movement in the trucking world — the fight against the Electronic Logging Device (ELD) Mandate, which many believe will place a significant and unnecessary burden on small-to-medium trucking companies. The mandate was heavily supported by the ATA, which represents some of the largest trucking companies in the country.
Thousands of truckers have voiced their complaints over social media, participated in protests on both coasts, and even rallied in Washington D.C. to fight against the upcoming regulation, however President Trump has failed to respond to the complaints.
Now, hundreds of truckers are taking their concerns and criticisms to the President’s communication platform of choice — Twitter.
Here are several tweets made from truckers, directed towards the President of the United States.
Electronic log mandate will cost $2 billion of #truckers money. Stop the regulation now @Real Donald Trump #ELDorMe

Although President Trump has promised a significant reduction in new regulations, and has even cut back on certain existing regulations, he has not weighed in on the electronic logging device mandate, which is set to go into effect in December.
Many believe there’s still hope, however, and continue to fight the upcoming mandate. And If the tweets and Facebook posts continue to pile in on social media — who knows — truckers may just get a tweet back.
