A local news reporter saved a truck driver from a grim fate, after his rig was swallowed by flood water in Houston, Texas on Sunday afternoon.
Local KHOU reporter Brandi Smith was reporting near Interstate 45, after Hurricane Harvey left much of Houston underwater, when she spotted the stranded truck driver on the flooded Hardy Toll Road.
After spotting the trapped driver, she noticed a Harris County Sheriff’s truck hauling a watercraft, and feverishly flagged down the officer. All of which took place live on air, and can be seen below.
The clip dramatically cuts off after the news-station lost signal before the driver was rescued.
Fortunately, Brandi and her camera man kept recording.
“The KHOU11 signal cut out just as Harris County Sheriff’s Office crews got their rescue boat in the water to pull a semi driver out of his flooded cab. I’ve had SO many people asking if he made it out OK and I wanted to share the video,” she wrote on Facebook.
She shared the following conclusion to the dramatic rescue, as well as a brief interview with the truck driver, in the clip below.
