Extreme storms in Hillsboro, Ohio, caused a highway to partially collapse. It happened on State Route 785 near Burgess Lane on Wednesday afternoon.
One witness told reporters,
“I saw the guardrail post was flopping on both sides, and I saw there was a van parked there, and I was telling him to back up. As soon as he backed up, the road collapsed.”
ODOT offered detours to avoid the area while repairs are underway.
“S.R. 785 in Highland County has been closed near Burgess Road due to a washout and culvert collapse. The closure will be in effect until further notice, and motorists will be detoured via S.R. 73, S.R. 32 and S.R. 247.”
The road will be closed for weeks while crews repair the damage.
