With the 2016 Presidential race starting to pick up steam, candidates are beginning to do everything they can in order to appeal to a wider audience.

Take Hillary Clinton for example, who threw truck drivers into the discussion during her first campaign stop in Iowa.

During the roundtable discussion, the topic of tax rate disparity between America’s top earners and the middle-class working citizen, she pointed to truck drivers as an example:

“There is something wrong when hedge fund managers pay lower tax rates than nurses or the truckers that I saw on I-80 as I was driving here over the last two days.”

With driver pay always an important issue in the industry, perhaps this was an attempt to appeal to the 3,000,000 truck drivers in America where they really feel it; in their pockets.
