In Schuylkill County, Pennsylvania, neighborhood residents were alerted to the sound of a semi truck crashing into their yard in the early morning.

According to residents, the alarming noise was a familiar one.

WNEP reported that Gordon Mountain Road is well known for crashes like this.

In September, there were three semi truck accidents on this hill within three days.

PennDot stated that they now plan to implement a ban on all trucks from traveling down this mountain. They hope to put up signage and have the ban established as early as this summer.

This crash happened around 4 a.m. on Wednesday morning. A semi truck hauling watermelons came barreling down the mountain, ran into a resident’s yard, hit the side of a house, and damaged a car, just before it came to a screeching halt in the yard.

The truck was later towed from the scene.

A family who has resided at the bottom of the mountain for the past 15 years told media that their property was damaged around a dozen times due to truck crashes.

Resident Carole Cheeseman stated:

“Last summer it was three times right in a row. I’ve been praying at night and hoping that nothing would happen. Last night it happened.”

Currently, there is a ban in place that prohibits trucks that weigh over 19 tons from using the road.

It is not yet known if the truck from this incident was over the weight limit, or if the driver has been cited.
