Police in DeKalb County, Georgia, are actively searching for a man who opened fire on two truck drivers in an Office Depot parking lot on Wednesday morning.
According to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution an officer witnessed a man shooting at two truck drivers in the parking lot on Memorial Drive. When the officer approached the man, he turned towards the officer’s direction and fired several shots.
The gunman then fled the scene in a red BMW and was followed by the officer, but was eventually able to elude capture by abandoning the vehicle in a nearby subdivision.
After a preliminary investigation, DeKalb police spokeswoman Mekka Parish told reporters, “the suspects were trying to rob the victims, who had parked their tractor-trailers in the Office Depot Plaza. According to the victims, as they walked to a nearby restaurant, they were approached by one armed suspect who began to fire.”
Neither men suffered any gunshot wounds, however one of the truck drivers sustained minor injuries on his arm as he was running from the gunman. The police officer did not suffer any injuries, and did not fire his weapon. Several storefronts were damaged from the bullets.
