Three people in New York have been busted for widespread CDL exam cheating schemes.

Ying Wai Phillip Ng and his wife Pui Kuen Ng owned the “N&Y Professional Service Line” driving school in Brooklyn, which provided students with the answers for the written portion of the CDL exam.

According to the DOT “Many of the driving school’s customers did not speak or write in English”. The couple provided their customers with a hidden camera and a paging system that allowed questions and answers to be transmitted back and forth.

The school had roughly 500 students that passed the written tests with their fraudulent practices, before it was uncovered. They must now surrender roughly $200,000 in ill-gotten gains.

Another person in New York was recently arrested for a similar fraud. Marie Daniel was part of a 10 person organization that gave customers Bluetooth pencils and headsets to use as a communication device for cheating while taking the written exam.

According to DOT, applicants looking to get their CDL would pay between $1800 and $2000 for Daniel’s services.

All three have recently plead guilty to fraud charges.
