A semi-truck driver has been hospitalized after he was victim of a hit-and-run in Madison, Tennessee.

Here’s how it happened.

The incident occurred around 1 a.m. on Friday on northbound I-65. The driver, whose name has not been released, stopped on the highway and got out of his rig to check something on his truck.

That’s when he was clipped by a passing car which then fled the scene. The car driver then crashed into a highway divider wall on Vietnam Veterans Parkway.

WSMV reported that the suspect was arrested on suspicion of DUI and then was taken to a hospital to treat unknown injuries. The truck driver suffered a broken leg and is expected to recover.

The incident remains under investigation.
