
The eastbound lanes of the Ohio Turnpike were closed on Friday morning due to a multiple vehicle accident involving four tractor trailers.
Around 3:30 a.m., one semi truck overturned at milepost 228. About 20 minutes later, three other trucks were involved in a chain-reaction pileup behind the overturned truck.
The accident caused a complete closure of the eastbound lanes. One driver was injured and taken to the hospital. The extent of his injuries is not known.

The Ohio State Patrol shared these photos from the scene.
The roadway was wet at the time of the crash, however OSP has not listed road conditions as a factor. Hazmat crews were called to clean up a small diesel spill at the scene.
Update (5:43 a.m.):
After a two hour closure, the highway was reopened.
