Since the beginning of the modern era, commercial drivers have been required to log their hours driven with paper and pen. But with the recent media spotlight on driver safety, lawmakers have been pushing to move to an electronic logbook that automatically tracks hours on the road.
Some believe that it’ll makes life easier, however most polls have shown that a majority of drivers feel it’s an intrusive change to have another piece of technology literally watching your every move.
Many readers of Livetrucking.com have already voiced their dissatisfaction with the proposed bill on this site and it’s Facebook page and we will continue to provide an open forum for drivers to voice their thoughts.
However, the FMCSA’s official EOBR mandate comment board closes this Thursday, June 26th, so if you’d like to chime in on this matter on the official public forum head to regulations.gov, and enter Docket Number FMCSA-2010-0167.
