Five people were killed, and 25 others injured, in a crash between a bus and semi truck on Saturday morning.
The incident happened around 5 a.m. at the intersection of Woodville Highway and U.S. Highway 98 in Wakulla County, Florida.
The accident occurred when the driver of the bus failed to stop at a flashing red light while heading south, and collided with a 2005 Freightliner semi truck that was heading west. The semi truck was driven by 55-year-old Gordon A. Sheets from Copiague, New York. He was killed in the crash.
According to the Tallahassee Democrat, the bus was carrying 35 Haitian immigrants workers and their families from Bainbridge, Georgia, to Belle Glades, Florida.4 passengers on the bus were killed, and 25 others injured. Many that were hurt suffered serious injuries.
An investigation is currently underway.
