A violent trend among Charlotte, North Carolina teenagers has truck drivers fearing for their safety. The Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department has been inundated with reports of large rocks being thrown at semi trucks in the middle of the night.

Driver Patrick Crisler was a victim of such an incident two weeks ago when someone hurled a rock at his FedEx trukck. He explained, “It hit the passenger side of the front quarter panel.”

Crisler told WSOCTV that the targeted attacks have him fearing the worst. He told reporters, “If a driver loses control of his truck because a rock goes through the windshield, it could hit a house, a car, anything else that’s in the way.”

But this driver isn’t the only one who has been affected by such an incident. Police confirmed that numerous similar complaints have been reported by other drivers. Just a few days prior, a 13-year-old was charged when three teens were caught throwing rocks at drivers.

Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Officer Johnathan Frisk explained that it’s becoming a common problem. “We’ve seen a trend in the youth, juveniles throwing rocks at trucks, particularly FedEx trucks.”

The police department is taking these incidents seriously and is on the lookout for the suspects who are putting lives in danger. Police remind drivers to be aware of their surroundings at all times.
