Two people were killed in a fiery collision involving two tractor trailers early Wendesday morning.
It happened on Interstate 80 in Tooele County, Utah, around 3 a.m.
According to reports, a flatbed semi truck which was hauling a military vehicle lost control and rolled into the highway median while traveling east. This caused the equipment it was hauling to break free and roll into the westbound lanes.
An oncoming FedEx semi truck, which was heading west, crashed into the military vehicle and burst into flames.
The flatbed truck driver was killed in the crash, and a passenger in the FedEx truck was also killed. The driver of the FedEx truck was injured, but survived.
The crash closed a 7-mile stretch of Interstate 80, in both directions, until 10 a.m.
The latest update from the Utah Department of Transportation indicated that the westbound lanes at milepost 77 remain closed, and eastbound traffic is moving using only the right shoulder.
