A FedEx truck pulling double trailers lost control on a California highway on Thursday morning, resulting in a fatal collision.
The incident occurred around 6 a.m. on Interstate 5 in Sacramento.
According to The Sacramento Bee, the FedEx truck was traveling on the southbound lanes in heavy rain, when the driver lost control of the rig and hit the median barrier, then crossed into the northbound lanes.
The semi then hit a pickup truck, killing the driver of that vehicle. The highway was immediately shutdown following the crash.
The California Highway Patrol are still investigating the incident, however speed is not believed to be a factor. Troopers say the double-trailer FedEx truck may have hydroplaned on the wet road. The truck driver was not injured.
This crash occurred just one hour after another FedEx semi truck crashed on the same highway, falling 300 feet down a ravine. Miraculously, the driver of that truck survived as well.
Update: Most lanes on northbound Interstate 5 have been reopened.
