A fatal crash between two tractor trailers shut down a section of Interstate 80 in central Pennsylvania on Thursday morning.

The crash occurred shortly after midnight at milepost 203 on the east bound lanes of Interstate 80 in White Deer Township.

According to reports, a tractor trailer driven by 56-year-old William J. Piktel  rear-ended a tractor trailer driven by 48-year-old Travis McCloe around 12:15 a.m.

Piktel was killed in the crash.  McCloe and his 19-year-old passenger were not injured.

A 30-mile stretch of Interstate 80 eastbound is closed between the Williamsport exit (Interstate 180) and the Lock Haven exit.

Traffic was detoured through Lock Haven on the Clinton County side of the closure.

The highway was still closed as of 11 a.m.  It is expected to reopen sometime this afternoon.

Update (1:05 p.m.): 

The accident scene has been cleared and the highway has been reopened, PennDOT reports.
