
A truck driver was killed after rear-ending another tractor trailer on Interstate 459 in Bessemer, Alabama on Friday morning.
The incident happened around 7:15 a.m. on the northbound lanes of I-459, near the Eastern Valley Road exit.
According to Bessemer police, the first tractor trailer was slowing down due to a vehicle that was on fire, and the second truck did not notice that traffic was slowing. The second tractor trailer then rear-ended the first truck, killing the driver of the second truck on impact.
Photos from the scene show the cab of the second truck severely mangled in the wreck.

The identity of the driver has not yet been released to the public.
The incident has caused a complete shutdown of northbound Interstate 459. Traffic is currently being detoured at the Eastern Valler Rd. exit (Exit 1).
As of 11:58 a.m., the road remains closed.
