A semi truck hauling propane exploded after striking a train in Callaway, Minnesota, on Thursday afternoon, forcing approximately 200 people out their homes.

The train and truck collided around 12:30 p.m. The impact caused the Canadian Pacific train to derail, and the semi truck’s propane tank to catch fire and explode.

According to The Forum, the entire town of Callaway (approximately 237 people) were ordered to leave their homes because rescue workers worried that the truck fire would spread to a nearby, larger propane tank, causing an even larger explosion. Firefighter say the larger propane tank was only 150-feet away from the site of impact.

Homeowners that were forced to evacuate were not allowed into their homes until Friday at noon, about 24 hours after the incident occurred.

The driver of the truck was not seriously injured, and denied medical attention. Two workers on the train suffered minor injuries. No deaths have been reported.

The incident remains under investigation.
