An engaged couple was arrested for breaking into a semi truck and assaulting a sleeping truck driver in Granite City, Illinois earlier this week.

According to The Telegraph, the driver was sleeping inside his semi truck on the 3200 block of W. Chain of Rocks Road on Tuesday night, when he was awakened by the couple knocking on his door.

After opening his truck’s door, the two suspects entered his vehicle and demanded money. When he refused, the female suspect pulled out a knife and the male suspect threatened to stab him.

Despite the threats, the truck driver refused to give them money and was assaulted.

The suspects then made off with an undisclosed amount of money.

Around 4:30 a.m., 2 hours after the robbery, police apprehended a couple who matched the description of the robbers.
