
A semi truck veered off Interstate 65 near Austin, Indiana, after an electronic cigarette blew up in the driver’s face.
The incident occurred on Tuesday afternoon at mile marker 35.5 on northbound Interstate 65.
Initial investigation indicates an electronic cigarette malfunctioned and blew up in face of driver, causing I-65 crash near 35.5 MM.

The truck driver told police that an electronic cigarette blew up in his face while he was driving, causing him to veer off the road. He suffered minor burns and lost a “significant amount of blood” due to cuts.
Indiana State Police said they found evidence of the exploded e-cigarette inside the truck.
The driver was taken to University of Louisville Hospital, where he was treated for his injuries.
The northbound lanes were closed for several hours in order for crews to remove the truck. It has since been reopened.
