Thieves aren’t the smartest people or they wouldn’t be, well….thieves!

These guys, whoever they are, stole several commercial vehicles from Crop Production Services in Graves County, Kentucky. But they didn’t get far because they didn’t know how to drive the vehicles.

Guess they thought just anyone could hop in and drive a semi. Really?

One by one, they abandoned the trucks they had stolen, littering them around the county. Shawn Kelly, a resident said he heard the sound of a diesel engine outside, and found a Volvo semi hanging on the grassy hillside of his property.

Other trucks were left in the road and discovered by employees on their way to work. It was clearly a crime of opportunity since the keys had been left inside the trucks.

Guess the criminals didn’t count on the fact that driving a semi is clearly more difficult than driving car.

Investigators recovered almost all the trucks, including a two-ton flat bed worth about $25k. The Volvo, left on Kelly’s property, was driven back to work by an employee. Investigators are still looking for a white F-250 pickup truck.

The thieves are still at large. Maybe they should try breaking into a bicycle shop next time.
