Benny Easters, a 56-year-old Hawaiian man, was making a a delivery in Alaska when his truck was struck by a Sedan.

He was turning left out of Airport Way onto University Avenue as the Sedan, driven by 21-year-old Cody Odomin, was heading west, down Airport Way.

Odomin crashed into Easters and died that day. Easters and his passenger were uninjured.

According to Alaskan State Troopers, “Investigation revealed that the driver of the Saturn was traveling at a high rate of speed, well over the posted speed limit of 45 miles per hour, the driver was not wearing a seatbelt. Alcohol is also suspected as a factor in the crash.”

The truck was carrying rocket motors, classified as hazardous material.  Diesel fuel also spilled onto the road from the crash.

The intersection was closed until noon the following day.
