A truck driver was found dead inside his rig after it caught fire at a truck stop in Wisconsin on Sunday morning.

The incident happened in the parking lot of the Petro Travel Center in Portage, Wisconsin, located near the Interstate 90/Interstate 39 interchange

According to the Portage Daily Register, firefighters arrived at the scene around 6:30 a.m., and discovered a 53-foot semi truck with its cab and engine fully engulfed in flames.

They began to battle the blaze while local deputies searched for the driver of the truck.

After the blaze was extinguished, firefighters found the the body of the driver, a 57-year-old Idaho man, inside the cab’s sleeper compartment.

The driver’s name has not been released. Several local agencies, including the Portage Fire Department and the Columbia County Sheriff’s Office, are investigating the incident.
