Two semi trucks crashed on I-65 southbound in Columbus, Indiana, resulting in a partial closure of the highway. It happened on Tuesday afternoon around 2:45 p.m. at the State Road 46 interchange, located near mile marker 68.
According to The Republic, traffic on the highway was slowed due to a previous accident two miles ahead, around mile marker 66. A tanker truck that was approaching the traffic congestion was unable to stop in time and slammed into the back of another semi truck, which was carrying mail.
The cab of the tanker truck was crushed. The trailer of the mail truck was ripped open, spilling packages across the highway.
Indiana State Police reported that the driver of the tanker truck was taken to Columbus Regional Hospital. He suffered serious injuries but was conscious when he was removed from his rig.
The other truck driver, whose name was not released, was not reported to be injured.
