New Jersey truck driver, Fito Irribarra, was making a delivery in the Bronx on Jerome Avenue last Thursday, when thieves stole his GPS and his canine companion, Angelo, from the cab of his truck. This truck driver now searches for his pet in a heartbroken frenzy.
According to CBS New York, Irribarra suffers from diabetes and his purebred Maltese is a trained therapy dog. Angelo can sense and warn his owner when his blood sugar is rising. Not only has this driver lost his four-legged friend, but now his health could be in jeopardy.
Shortly after the incident, Irribarra received a ransom phone call demanding $200 for the dog, but the thieves never called back. He’s plastered hundreds of “Lost Dog” posters around the Bronx, offering a reward of $300 for the return of his pet.
So far, police have received very few leads.
