Police say the driver of a red Corvette veered into oncoming traffic and collided with a tractor trailer in Pala, California, on Thursday.
The accident happened on SR-76, near Lilac Road, around 4:40 p.m. in the afternoon on Thursday.
According to local NBC – San Diego, the Corvette was traveling westbound on SR-76 and drifted across the roadway’s double yellow lines, striking the semi on the eastbound lanes head-on.
The impact demolished the Corvette, and caused tractor trailer to catch fire almost immediately.
A group of teenagers witnessed the crash and helped pull the truck driver to safety. He was identified as 52-year-old Sun City resident Jose Solorio, and wasn’t seriously injured.
