A trucker was robbed by a teen who conned him by playing the sympathy card.

According to T & D, the robbery took place at around 5 a.m. on Tuesday at a truck stop on John C. Calhoun Drive in Orangeburg, South Carolina.

The truck driver, whose name was not released, told officers that he was approached by a young male while he was near the fuel pumps.

The teen, believed to be around age 16, then asked if he had seen his lost dog.

“I let my mom’s dog out and, if I don’t find him, she’s going to kill me,” he explained.

The driver agreed to help the teen search for the missing dog. Both the driver and the teen then walked towards the back of the trailer.

That’s when the teen drew a pistol and aimed it at the driver’s head, demanding that the trucker hand over his wallet.

“Bro, chill out. I don’t have my wallet. It’s in my truck.” he responded.

“Don’t try anything or you’ll be dead,” the teen warned, “If you don’t have $500, you’re dead.”

As he went to fetch his wallet, the driver told the boy that he didn’t even have 5 bucks. The teen grabbed the wallet anyway, and fled the scene.

Police officers are using the driver’s description of the boy and surveillance cameras from nearby businesses to identify and track down the thief.
