On January 1st 2014, the state of Connecticut effected a new law requiring drivers to clear snow and ice from their vehicles before hitting the road. The new law effects all motorist, however commercial truck drivers are being hit the hardest with fines ranging from $500 to $1,250, compared to just $75 for pedestrian vehicles.
Meloday Currey, Connecticut’s Motor Vehicles commissioner explains: “This is a law meant to protect citizens and motorists from these elements that can be very dangerous when coming off traveling trucks on our highways and streets.”
Next time your traveling through Connecticut this winter remember to clear off all snow and ice, or pay the price.
