The California Highway Patrol has reopened an investigation of an alleged road rage incident involving a semi truck and a car after receiving cell phone footage of the incident that was taken by a witness.

The incident occurred on the westbound 91 Freeway near Yorba Linda on September 8th.

The victim, who said he feared for his safety and did not want to be identified, said he switched lanes in order to occupy a space between two semi trucks when he was struck from behind by one of the trucks.

He then got out of his car to check for damages and confront the truck driver.

“I came out of the car and looked and waved at him. ‘What’s wrong with you? Why are you pushing me?'” he told reporters.

That’s when a man who witnessed the incident started recording with his cell phone. The witness told ABC-7 reporters “It was a clear case of road rage.”

After he got back into his car, the man was struck two more times from behind. He said he feared for his life and the only thing preventing him from behind pushed into the truck in front of him was the truck’s lift gate.

The men eventually got the attention of California Highway Patrol officers who filed an accident report and questioned both drivers.

According to reports, the truck driver, who works for Agricomm Express Inc., told officers that he simply did not see the car in front of him.

After receiving the witness’s cell phone video, the CHP says they will reopen the investigation in order to determine if road rage was a factor. Officer Paul Fox of the CHP told reporters that there is a possibility that “charges may come out of it.”
