
A driver became trapped in his car when it crashed into a flatbed trailer that had separated from a truck.
It happened around 6:30 a.m. on Tuesday on State Route 19 near Route 956 in Lawrence County, Pennsylvania.
Police reported that the truck was turning onto southbound Route 19 when its trailer became loose and disengaged from the truck. The trailer traveled into the northbound lanes where it was struck by a car.
The car became wedged underneath the trailer after the collision.
WPXI reported that the car driver was trapped inside the wreckage until he was rescued by emergency crews.
He was flown by helicopter to a hospital in Youngstown, Ohio with serious injuries.
The truck driver was not injured. The crash remains under investigation and no charges have yet been filed.
