A truck driver was seriously injured, and a car driver killed, in a fatal truck-car collision on Interstate 270 in Columbus, Ohio, early Saturday morning.
According to police reports, for reasons that are not known, 28-year-old Maria Hayslip stopped her 2013 Hyundai in the center lane of I-270 north, near State Route 33, with the lights off.
A 2012 Freightlimer semi-truck driven by 32-year-old Benjamin Devries, was traveling north and struck the Hyundai in the center lane around 1:45 a.m.
The impact caused the semi truck to drive off the road and jackknife in the grass, local NBC-4 reported.
The driver of the car was killed in the crash. The truck driver suffered serious injuries and was taken to Grant Medical Center in critical condition.
Police are trying to determine why Hayslip’s Hyundai was stopped on the highway.
