A woman died as a result of her injuries from a collision involving a semi truck. The crash happened on Route 30 in Aurora, Illinois around 4:50 p.m. on Thursday.
The Chicago Tribune reported that 33-year-old Erin Buck was driving a Hyundai Elantra when she stopped at the intersection of Route 30 and Heggs Road. According to witnesses, the woman slowed down at a stop sign on Heggs Road, but continued to “inch out” onto Route 30, causing her susceptibility to oncoming traffic.
That’s when a semi truck driven by a 58-year-old driver from Westville, New Jersey, approached the intersection. He immediately hit the brakes and swerved to avoid the collision, but was unable to stop in time. The semi truck struck the Hyundai on the driver’s side, crushing the car and sending both vehicles into a ditch.
Emergency crews had to cut the woman from her car. She died at a hospital two days later as a result of her injuries.
The truck driver’s name was not released. He was not physically injured in the crash, nor was he cited.
