Editor’s note: There are very few times we’ll post a non-trucking story, however many of our readers also enjoy riding their motorcycles during their time off, so we thought this was worth checking out.
A car driver in Texas purposely swerved and hit a motorcyclist on Saturday afternoon. His reason? The biker crossed double yellow lines in order to pass him.
The biker, Eric Sanders, uploaded the video to Facebook on Saturday, shortly after the incident occurred. (It was filmed by a fellow rider).
The incident begins around the 1:40 mark in the video, as Sanders tries to pass the vehicle in front of him. After bumping into Sanders’ motorcycle and knocking him and his girlfriend to the ground, the man in the car stops to confront the two.
The car driver initially claims that he hit the motorcycle because Sanders tried to pass him by crossing over double yellow lines. When he’s told that the incident was recorded on video, his response was “I don’t care.”
According to his Facebook post, Sanders sustained only minor injuries from the crash, but his girlfriend suffered an arm injury which required surgery.
The car driver was not arrested, but Sanders says he plans on taking legal action against him.
