On Tuesday, truck drivers were served hot dogs and soda by officers from the California Highway Patrol in order to celebrate Truck Driver Appreciation Day.

The event was held at the Cottonwood Inspection Facility, in Cottonwood, California.

In addition to serving free food, CHP officers spent the day interacting with drivers and discussing the importance of semi truck safety.

“This is a great day to really reach out to the drivers. Most of the time our interactions are enforcement related. This is a good interaction with the drivers in a different capacity. In the end, we all want the same thing. To share the highway and be able to go up and down safely while ensuring swift and safe movement of goods and services.” said California Highway Patrols’ Lt. Kevin Alexander.

According to the Red Bluff Daiily News over 800,000 trucks pass through the inspection site per year, with roughly 30,000 of those receiving a level two or three inspection.
