A cyclist shattered an innocent truck driver’s windshield because he was upset about an accident involving a different tractor trailer the day before.

The incident happened in the River West neighborhood of Chicago, Illinois, on Wednesday morning. According to a report by DNAInfo.com, a man was seen shattering a windshield of a semi truck that was parked in a bicycle lane on the 800 block of North Milwaukee Avenue.

The reason for his actions? He was angry about a fatal crash that occurred the day before, involving another tractor trailer and a cyclist.

On Tuesday, 20-year-old Lisa Kuivinen was tragically killed in an accident involving a semi truck while she was riding in the busy bicycle lanes on North Milwaukee Ave.

Although the details of her accident are still under investigation, it is believed that the semi truck was in the bicycle lane due to construction in the area. The 37-year-old truck driver received two tickets for the accident, one for failure to take due care with a bicyclist and another for driving in a bike lane.

Many local who regularly use the city’s “busiest bike corridor,” were deeply saddened by the accident. Others, however, upset by the perceived “light charges” for the driver, took a more sinister route — and decided to exact revenge on innocent truckers in the area.

The day after the fatal accident, one upset cyclist was seen taking out his frustrations by shattering the windshield of another semi truck which was parked near the scene of Tuesday’s crash.

“He didn’t speak. He didn’t say anything, but he was clearly angry. I understand his frustration, but I don’t necessarily agree with his execution,” a witness told reporters.

The reason for the truck congestion is due to construction of a luxury apartment building at the site. The construction company, Summit Design & Build LLC, requested a 30 day bike lane closure around the premises for 30-days, but were denied by CDOT.

Until the construction’s completed it appears that the area around 830 N. Milwaukee Avenue is unsafe for both bikers and truck drivers.
