On Friday, in Weld County, Colorado, a bicyclist was killed after colliding with a semi truck.
According to ABC Denver, the incident occurred on a bridge on Weld County Road 18 near Highway 85 around 7:30 a.m.
The cyclist was a 59-year-old man from Fort Lupton.
Fort Lupton Police Chief Ken Poncelow stated that the bicyclist was traveling westbound on the county road when he drifted into oncoming traffic and crossed paths with the semi truck. Officials reported that the cyclist may have been looking elsewhere when crossing over the lanes.
He was reportedly decapitated and pronounced dead at the scene.
Weld County Road was closed in both directions while crews investigated the scene.
The identity of the bicyclist will be released after his family receives notice.
