Alabama’s Governor, Robert Bentley, recently announced on Twitter that he’s ordered the state’s Department of Transportation to remove the “no weapons” signs in all its rest stops.
I have ordered the AL Department of Transportation to remove signs banning weapons at all Alabama rest stops to comply with state law.

The signs were put up after new gun laws were passed in 2013. According to Fox-6 in Alabama, ALDOT claims that Alabama code “gives them the authority to post them”.
The governor, however, disagreed, and questioned the legality of the signs, ultimately ordering ALDOT to remove them.
