An Alabama Department of Transportation worker was killed earlier this week when his dump truck was struck by an 18-wheeler on a highway construction zone near Livingston, Alabama,
According to ABC-11, 52-year-old Tonnie Bernard Watkins was working on Interstate 59, near mile marker 19, when his dump truck was struck on Monday morning.
Watkins was airlifted to Hill Hospital in York, Alabama, but died shortly after from his injuries.
The driver of the International Prostar semi truck, 28-year-old James Godbolt Jr. of Mullins, South Carolina, suffered non-life threatening injuries in the crash and was treated at Rush Hospital in Meridian, Mississippi.
The accident is currently under investigation.
