Several kids from a New Orleans elementary school have created bright ‘low clearance’ signs in order to warn truck drivers of a low overpass that has been struck several times in the last few months.

The overpass is located on Marconi Drive and supports rail road tracks that run through town. Although there is a “no truck route” sign posted down the road, residents believe it’s not enough.

Many locals have sent requests to the city, asking officials to improve the signage. So far, city has failed to take action, leading the group of students to take things into their own hands.

12feet

Neighborhood resident Lee LaFleur told WWLTV reporters, “Nothing is getting done, so the engineers can’t make it happen, so we figured some 9- and 10- and 11-year-olds could,”

The kids, who range between 9 to 11-years-old, created bright “12 feet!” clearance signs which they plan to post around the bridge in order to warn drivers of the low overpass.
