Some people can’t seem to learn from their first mistakes, which is bad because they keep making the same mistakes over and over again.
Take Devasko Lewis for example. His trucking company, Lewis Trucking Company, was shut down in 2008 due to the failure of a compliance review which occurred after an accident that killed 7 Alabama prison guards.
He reopened the same company but under a different name, thinking he could get away. He called it “DDL Transport” and, obviously, it got shut down as well.
Devasko was then arrested for 90 days for violating his shut down order and was to be followed by a 12 months of supervised released. You’d think Devasko would learn by now but don’t over estimate him.
While in prison, he made plans with a man named Corey Daniels to reopen Lewis/DDL under two new names and obtain DOT numbers for Eagle Transportation under the names of Daniels and friends to try and hide his own involvement.
It didn’t work and Daniels was found guilty of conspiring to violate imminent hazard out-of-service orders and received an additional 12 months of probation tacked onto his sentence.
