According to KXAN, at around 2:18 a.m., Dieguez was driving a white Hyundai on I-35, reaching speeds over 100 m.p.h., when he rear-ended a semi truck.

After he was hit, the truck driver pulled over and got out of his vehicle to check to see if Dieguez was OK.

According to DPS, that was the moment when another semi truck ran into debris from the crash, veered off the roadway, and struck the first truck driver. He died at the scene.

A third semi truck then hit more debris and caught fire.
