One person died and another was seriously injured in a crash on I-45 in Dallas, Texas. It happened around 11:30 p.m. on Tuesday near South Boulevard.

Daylnn Brown was headed northbound in a sedan when he approached an active construction zone. An occupied, stalled semi truck was in the left lane and had hazard lights turned on. Brown was traveling at such a high speed that he was unable to stop.

He crashed right into the stalled semi truck.

His car was crushed from the impact.

Brown was pronounced dead at the scene. His passenger was critically injured and hospitalized. The truck driver was not reported to be injured.

The Dallas Morning News reported that the crash caused a chain reaction of fender benders as several cars were forced to slam on the their brakes to avoid serious collisions.

Northbound I-45 was backed up while crews attended to the scene. Drivers were diverted to an alternate route.
