A man was seriously injured when he attempted to use a moving semi truck as an escape vehicle after a robbery on Thursday morning.

According to the Chicago Tribune police were in pursuit of a suspect who fled on foot after he robbed a retail store in Chicago, Illinois. During the foot chase, the man jumped from the 119th Street overpass onto I-57 below. After running onto the highway, the man jumped onto a passing semi truck.  He reportedly told the truck driver that he had just been robbed.

That’s when the trucker stopped on the shoulder and demanded that the man get down from his truck. The man refused to listen and attempted to climb back on the truck, but fell onto the roadway and was partially run-over.

The suspect was taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn in critical condition.
