In Red Rock, Arizona, a multi-vehicle crash involving three semis injured five people.
The crash happened around 10 p.m. on Wednesday on I-10 near Pinal Park Road.
According to KGUN, just before the accident, traffic was being diverted from a previous wreck involving two semis. The drivers involved in this collision were attempting to get through the wreck’s diverted route on I-10.
The truck driver at the back of the crash had fallen asleep at the wheel.
The truck driver was unable to break as traffic slowed down. Next, the first truck driver ran into a semi in front of it. That semi then hit a car in front of it, which hit another semi in front of it.
This caused a total pile-up.
The trucks that were hauling plumbing supplies, fruit and boxes were ripped open.
Five people were taken to the Banner University Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries.
Officials closed the westbound lanes of I-10 for several hours while crews cleared the scene.
The highway has since reopened.
